Student Council
In 2015-16 the Community High School Student Council (SCC) volunteered its time with MANNA Food Bank and with Brother Wolf Animal Rescue. We produced Spirit Week, a Fall Festival, and an end-of-year Field Day. Fundraising activities included the sale of t-shirts, raffle tickets, and hot chocolate.

In 2014-15 the Community High Student Council (or SCC) was, once again, extremely active in fundraising, self-advocacy, and community service. In September the SCC sent student volunteers to WD Williams on a campus beautification project. In October the SCC helped to produce CHS' first annual haunted-house fundraiser for which students were interviewed byMountain Xpress; the school hosted over 200 guests and earned in excess of $1000. In December we organized Spirit Week. In January we sent a student representative to this year’s “Mayors Meeting,” a convocation of students and local government executives assembled to inform educational policy. On April 3 student volunteers spent a day with Habitat for Humanity to build affordable housing in West Asheville. And once again we sponsored a field day for the entire student body. We also raised money through another 50-50 raffle, and the sale of t-shirts, ice cream floats, and Snocones.
2013-14 was an exceptional year for the Community High School Student Council (SCC). We helped finance, among other events, a senior picnic, an end-of-year field day, and spring graduation. We also maintained partnerships with the greater community, most notably with the First Congregational United Church of Christ; together, we assisted in the construction of Habitat for Humanity homes in Swannanoa. In addition, the SCC and its members facilitated the publication of a school profile and student art, photography, and writing in two separate editions of the Mountain Xpress.
SCC meets regularly to support Community High primarily through fund-raising activities. If you're interested in joining, please notify one of the faculty sponsors: Mr. Cunningham or Ms. Fisher.
