Exceptional Children's Teacher
Academic Support I
A little bit about me...  I am currently in my 8th year at Community High School as an Exceptional Children's Teacher and in my 13th year of teaching overall.  I moved to North Carolina from St. Petersburg, Florida eight years ago, and I really enjoy living in Asheville.  I am married to my best friend of 25 years and have three beautiful children ages 19, 15, and 6 years old.
Teaching is a second career for me.  After graduating from University of West Florida in 1998 with a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, I began working in the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice field.  While I enjoyed working with delinquent youth, I found my influence on their future was limited by their judicial predicaments.  After five years, I decided to return to school; I earned my master's degree in Special Education from the University of South Florida in 2007.
I sincerely love what I do; working at Community High School has been an awesome and rewarding experience.  I do have a specific goal for the near future.  I would love to develop curriculum, write a textbook, and encourage school districts to offer basic Introduction to Law classes geared toward the juvenile learner.  Education is prevention!
